FAQ

Questions, answered

Everything parents and students usually ask before starting. Can't find your answer? Just ask.

Do you offer a trial lesson?
Yes — your first lesson is a free 30-minute trial at the Mona Vale studio. It's a relaxed way to meet Cesar, try the instrument, and see if the teaching style fits. No obligation to continue.
What ages do you teach?
All ages and skill levels are welcome — from young beginners picking up a guitar for the first time to adults returning to music after years away. Lessons are one-on-one, so everything moves at your pace.
Which instruments and styles do you teach?
Acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass, and ukulele — across rock, blues, classical, pop, fingerstyle and more. Lessons follow a song-first approach: you choose music you love, and technique and theory are woven into it.
How much do lessons cost?
30-minute lessons are $60, 45-minute lessons are $80, and 60-minute lessons are $100. Lessons run weekly through the school term, with the term paid before the first lesson. See the Pricing page for details.
How do I pay?
Payment is per term, by cash at the studio or bank transfer (details provided at enrolment). Term fees are due before the first lesson of the term.
What if we need to cancel a lesson?
Please give at least 24 hours' notice by phone, text or email. Lessons cancelled with less than adequate notice are non-refundable, as the lesson time has been reserved for you. Illness and genuine emergencies are always treated with understanding.
Are there make-up lessons?
If a lesson is cancelled by 6 Strings (for example, teacher illness), a make-up lesson will be offered at a mutually convenient time — or a full credit applied to the next term's invoice if one can't be scheduled. Each student is entitled to one make-up lesson per term, taken within the same term.
Do I need my own instrument?
Yes — regular practice at home is where the real progress happens, so you'll need your own guitar, bass or ukulele. Not sure what to buy? Cesar is happy to advise on choosing the right instrument for your budget before you spend a cent.
How much should I practise?
We recommend 15–30 minutes, 3–4 times per week. Short, regular sessions beat long cramming every time — and each lesson comes with a clear practice plan so you always know what to work on.
Can parents sit in on lessons?
Absolutely — parents are welcome to attend, and for younger children it's often a great help with home practice.
Do you teach recording and music production?
Yes — students interested in recording can learn to record their playing using Logic Pro as part of their lessons.
Can I buy a gift voucher?
Yes! Lesson gift vouchers are available for birthdays, Christmas or any occasion — get in touch to arrange one.
